Selection of radial velocities for an orbit

The command irv may also be used to extract radial velocities to compute an orbit for a spectroscopic binary.

If all observations will be used, irv -bin star-no will extract the observations of that star and call the relevant program. The option is -bin2 for a double-linedspectroscopic binary.

If a sample has been made with a command like irv -u ref star_no or a selection on the Julian date (see item 4), one should use a form of the command like irv -sel star-no to compute an orbit. Similarly, the option -sel2 is used for a double-lined spectroscopic binary.

Examples:

irv -bin 25
will extract the radial velocities for star 25 and start the program to compute an orbit
irv -u 294 25
will extract the radial velocities for star 25 found in reference 294
irv -sel 25
will start the program to compute an orbit
