System command names
Several commands have been written to work
with compressed files and get information without physically uncompressing
them. They are most often uncompressed on the fly and the data are
sent in a pipe. All commands need a filename as argument. None
is further described in this hypertext version.
scl
- Display a scale and 10 lines of a file
zex
- Cat a compressed file
zp
- List a compressed file page after page
zhd
- List the first 15 lines of a compressed file
ztl
- List the last 15 lines of a compressed file
zpr
- Print a compressed file with lpr
vz
- Edit a compressed file with vi
wz
- Count the number of lines of a compressed file
