Abstract:
We report new metallicity determinations for 39 red giants in a 220
arcmin22 region, 1.8° southwest of the bar of the Large
Magellanic Cloud. These abundance measurements are based on
spectroscopy of the Ca II infrared triplet.

Note (1): ID numbers and coordinates are taken from the USNO-A astrometric
reference catalog (Monet, 1998, Cat. I/252), except where noted.
Note (2): Magnitudes are from Cole (1999, Ph.D. thesis, Univ. of
Wisconsin-Madison)
Note (3): Subgoup definitions:
i: stars lie fainter than 18th magnitude
ii: stars are brighter than V = 18 and bluer than V-I = 1.6
iii: stars lie between V-I = 1.6 and 1.85.
iv: bluest stars in selected magnitude ranges
Star 36 is excluded from the abundance analysis because of
contamination by TiO bands.
